Blurred View is a pop-rock ballad centred on themes of introspection, perseverance, and personal growth. Written in March 2021, the song reflects on feelings of uncertainty and emotional struggle while searching for clarity and hope. Over the years, the track evolved through several different iterations, growing alongside my own development as a musician and producer. What began as a bedroom pop recording eventually transformed into the version heard today. Despite the many revisions, the song's central themes remained unchanged. Blurred View captures a moment of reflection and uncertainty, while its evolution over several years reflects my development as both a songwriter and producer. The final version represents the culmination of that journey.

Written and performed by Dylan Hooper, with additional instruments from: Freddie Rose (drums), Louis Somerville (guitar), Harrison Ollier (guitar solo), Jack Hallsworth (cello) and Bea Davis (violin).

Butterflies (Composition)

Composed between October 2021 and May 2022, this work grew from a simple harp motif that was first written on acoustic guitar. The idea was to convey both the nervous excitement often described as "butterflies in the stomach" and the light, drifting motion of butterflies themselves.

The 8:48 were a South Wales rock band with a distinctive pop edge, active from 2021 to 2023, of which I was a founding member. Our self-produced debut EP, Now in a Minute, showcases an eclectic blend of genres across four tracks. Producing this project was an invaluable learning experience, helping me develop many of the production techniques and workflows that continue to shape my work today.
